The Problem With Logging Matches on a Phone
Most football analysts still carry a notepad to the sideline. Video tools like Hudl and Sportscode are excellent for post-match review — but they need a laptop, a camera setup, and a stable connection. None of that is available when you're standing pitch-side at a Sunday league ground, a remote training facility, or a youth tournament in a stadium with three hundred people sharing the WiFi.
Paper solves the access problem. But paper doesn't timestamp your notes. Paper doesn't let you tag a "Counter Attack" and filter it later. Paper can't export to a spreadsheet.
Tactics Note was built to solve exactly this gap.

Designed for the Sideline, Not the Office
Near-zero internet needed
Tactics Note saves every event directly to your device's local storage. Data writes in under a millisecond. Stadium WiFi being terrible doesn't affect the app at all.
Works on any screen size
The layout adapts cleanly between a 6-inch phone and a 13-inch tablet. Buttons are large enough to tap accurately while standing. The timer is displayed in a monospaced font so it doesn't visually shift as digits change.
The timer never loses time
Even if you lock your phone screen, switch apps, or take a call — Tactics Note recalculates the exact elapsed time from system clock when you return. You will never come back to a frozen or incorrect timer.
Active match beacon
If you navigate away from the live match screen, a pulsing red indicator stays visible in the navigation sidebar. One tap gets you back to the live match. You will never forget the timer is running.
From Pitch to Analysis in One Tap
After the final whistle, your match data is ready immediately.
Export every logged event as a CSV file with one tap. Each row contains the match time, the tags applied, and your written note. Import that file into Excel, Google Sheets, Tableau, or any Python workflow you already use.
Tactics Note doesn't lock your data in a proprietary format. It hands you clean, structured data and gets out of the way.
Who Uses Tactics Note on Mobile
Use it at youth academies and lower-league grounds where video setup isn't practical. They log player actions, tactical patterns, and key moments in real time, then sync findings back to the coaching staff.
Use it on the touchline during matches to track opponent patterns, note substitution timing, and flag set-piece moments for the manager's half-time review.
Use it on a tablet in the stands, running parallel to their video tool, capturing the qualitative notes that video timestamps alone don't carry.
Use it during training sessions to log player performance moments without needing a full analyst team present.
Free During Beta
Tactics Note is currently free to use. Future pricing will be under $10 per year — less than the cost of a notepad and two pens.
There are no hidden tiers. No features locked behind a paywall. The full app, on every device, at no cost during the beta period.
Launch Tactics NoteFAQ
Does Tactics Note work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Tactics Note is a web app that runs in any modern mobile browser — Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android, and every major browser in between. No app store download is needed.
Do I need internet to use Tactics Note on my phone?
Almost none. The app loads once in your browser and then saves all data locally to your device. You need a brief connection to open the app initially, but once it's loaded, you can log an entire 90-minute match with no internet signal at all.
Can I use Tactics Note on both my phone and laptop?
Yes. The same web app works on any screen size. Many analysts open it on their phone during the match and then review or export the data on their laptop afterwards.
Will my match data be lost if my phone screen locks?
No. Every event is saved to your device the moment you tap Save. Locking your screen, switching apps, or closing the browser tab does not delete your data.
How is Tactics Note different from just using the Notes app on my phone?
The Notes app gives you free text. Tactics Note gives you timestamped, tagged, structured data. Every event is linked to the exact match time, categorised with your tag library, and exportable as a CSV file. That's the difference between a diary entry and an analytical dataset.
